inactive ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, maize starch, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate.

Pharmacological group and ATC code

Analgesic, antipyretic; N02BA01.

Acetylsalicylic acid has antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. The mechanism of action is irreversible inhibition of the cyclooxygenase enzyme that regulates the synthesis of prostaglandins E2, I2, and thromboxane A2. One of the main mechanisms of headache while migraine attacks is aseptic neurogenic inflammation of blood vessels and dura mater. Acetylsalicylic acid, inhibits the formation of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation, reduces irritation of pain receptors of the trigeminal nerve system. On the other hand, acetylsalicylic acid inhibits synthesis with endothelial vascular nitric oxide, which is involved in the initiation and maintenance of an attack of migraine headache.

The maximum effect of the drug develops within 10-20 minutes.

Acetylsalicylic acid can be used for the treatments of:

– Pain of mild to moderate intensity of different genesis (including headache, toothache, dysmenorrhea, myalgia);

– Fever with colds and infectious and inflammatory diseases.

Dosage and administration

Inside 500 mg usually every 4-6 hours depending on the severity of the clinical symptoms. The maximum daily dose is 4 g.

The recommended dosage for acute osteoarthritis usually ranges from 4 to 8 grams per day in divided form.

In chronic diseases daily dosage is 5,4g in a divided form.

Adverse effects

In rare cases, nausea, epigastric pain, allergic skin reactions, changes in the peripheral blood (very rarely – thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis), tachycardia, hypertension, bronchospasm, which removes in case of withdrawal the drug. With prolonged use – dizziness, headache, blurred vision, tinnitus, decreased platelet aggregation, anticoagulation, hemorrhagic syndrome (nosebleeds, bleeding gums, purpura, etc..), kidneys disease with papillary necrosis; deafness; Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell’s syndrome), Reye’s syndrome in children (hyperpyrexia, metabolic acidosis, disorders of the nervous system and psyche, vomiting, abnormal liver function).

Symptoms: with an overdose of moderate severity – tinnitus, hearing loss, headache, dizziness, confusion; with an overdose of severe – fever, hyperventilation, ketosis, respiratory alkalosis, metabolic acidosis, coma, cardiovascular shock, respiratory failure, severe degree hypoglycemia.

Treatment: with an overdose of moderate – reduction in dose; shown in severe emergency hospitalization in a specialized department for the emergency treatment (gastric lavage, the appointment of activated charcoal, the definition of acid-base balance, alkaline diuresis until the pH of urine in the range 7.5-8, conducting forced alkaline diuresis at a concentration of salicylates in the blood of more than 500 mg / l (3.6 mmol / l) in adults and 300 mg / l (2.2 mmol / l) in children compensation fluid losses, symptomatic treatment). In severe poisoning may be taken hemodialysis.

– Children up to 16 years (due to the high risk of Reye’s syndrome);

– During pregnancy and breast feeding;

– If the patient is observed hypersensitivity to the components of drug;

– Liver and kidney diseases;

– Gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer (exacerbation), gastrointestinal bleeding (including in history);

– Hemophilia, hemorrhagic diathesis;

– Hypoprotrombinemia;

– Deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;

– Severe arterial hypertension, severe course of coronary heart disease; glaucoma;

– Surgery, accompanied by bleeding.

-Do not exceed recommended dosages prescribed by your doctor.-Precautions should be prescribed to patients with bronchial asthma and gout.

-Precautions should be given acetylsalicylic acid in case of liver and kidneys.

-With prolonged use may develop hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity.

-Do not take Acetylsalicylic acid in conjunction with other preparations containing nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

-In the treatment of acetylsalicylic acid avoid alcohol (similar to disulfiram causes alcohol intolerance).

-Children under 16 years can not be given acetylsalicylic acid, as in the case of viral infection acetylsalicylic acid can increase the risk of Reye syndrome. Symptoms of Reye syndrome are prolonged vomiting, acute encephalopathy, liver enlargement. In case of prolonged use of the preparation requires monitoring of peripheral blood and functional state of the liver.

-Since Acetylsalicylic acid slows blood clotting, so if the patient needs surgery, doctor should be forewarn the doctor about taking the preparation.

-Patients with hypersensitivity or astmoidnic reactions to salicylates or derivatives of acetylsalicylic acid can be administered only with special precautions (in terms of emergency services).

-Acetylsalicylic acid in low dosages reduces the excretion of uric acid. It may cause attack of gout in patients with a corresponding predisposition in certain cases.

Monitoring of laboratory parameters

-During treatment of Acetylsalicylic acid should be monitored peripheral blood picture and liver function.

-You must inform the doctor if the patient simultaneously takes other preparations with acetylsalicylic acid .

Drug interactions

Acetylsalicylic acid increases the toxicity of methotrexate, the effects of other anti-inflammatory nonsteroidal preparations, narcotic analgesics (oxycodone, propoxyphene, codeine), oral antidiabetic drugs, heparin, anticoagulants, thrombolytics and platelet aggregation inhibitors. It reduces the effect of antihypertensive agents, diuretics, protivopodagricakih preparations.

Simultaneous reception of phenacetin, antihistamines, acetaminophen, caffeine, glucocorticoids increases risk of adverse reactions Acetylsalicylic acid: negative effect on the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract. When concomitantly with antacids containing Mg and / or aluminum hydroxide, slow down and affects the absorption of acetylsalicylic acid. Acetylsalicylic acid increases the concentration of digoxin, barbiturates and lithium salts in the blood plasma.
